Bryan Childress – Lieutenant | Trainer | Outdoorsman | Family Man
FBI National Academy Graduate – Class 288 | Public Information Officer
I’ve spent over 20 years in law enforcement, but my journey didn’t start there. Before I put on a badge, I spent four years working as a locomotive engineer — a job that taught me discipline, focus, and the importance of safety in high-stakes environments. That experience shaped who I am today: someone who leads with intention, works with purpose, and never stops learning.
Currently, I serve as a Lieutenant with the Millington Police Department, where I oversee Criminal Investigations, the Traffic Unit, drone operations, and specialized units. I also proudly serve as the department’s Training Officer and General Department Instructor, helping prepare the next generation of officers for the challenges ahead.
For the past eight years, I’ve served on the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy Board as Secretary, and I’m a graduate of the FBI National Academy (Class 288) — one of the most respected leadership programs in our profession. I’m also the department’s Public Information Officer, keeping our community informed and engaged.
Over the years, I’ve hosted seminars and training events with 600+ attendees, covering everything from homicide investigations to cybercrime. I’ve had the privilege of speaking at law enforcement conferences and sharing what I’ve learned with officers from across the state. Training and mentorship are huge parts of what drives me — I believe we’re at our best when we’re helping others grow.
But life isn’t all work. When I’m not in uniform, you’ll find me outdoors — hunting, fishing, or bowfishing. I’m a big believer in balance and being fully present, whether I’m on the job or out in nature. I’ve been happily married for 14 years, and I’m the proud dad of two amazing daughters who keep me grounded and constantly remind me what really matters.
At the end of the day, I’m passionate about service — to my community, my colleagues, and my family. I believe in leading with integrity, staying humble, and always being ready to roll up my sleeves when there’s work to be done.
